As a Government Owned Corporation, QR is bound by the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (Qld). QR supports the aims and objects of this Act by allowing members of the public and its employees to have access to information held by QR. The object of the Act is to extend to the community the right to have access to information held by the Queensland Government. The Act has three Aims: Availability QR is committed to make available to the public, documents about its functions and operations. This includes information about its structure, decision making process, public participation through boards, councils or committees and policy documents. Access The public have a right to apply for documents held by QR. Members of the public can examine and have copies of documents. They also have a right of appeal if access to documents is not provided. However, as a GOC, any document received or brought into existence by QR in carrying out its commercial activities is exempt from the FOI Act. Amendment Members of the public can apply for information about their personal affairs to be amended if they believe it is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or misleading. Some documents are exempt to protect essential public interests or the personal or business affairs of others. As a GOC, QR does not have to release documents that relate to its commercial activities. The FOI Co-ordinator will decide, after appropriate consultation, which documents should be released to applicants. In accordance with Section 18 of the FOI Act QR is required to produce annually its Statement of Affairs. Below is the link to the latest Statement of Affairs.
