QR Careers FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

1.  Is there a probation period during the traineeship?

Yes.  A probation period is part of all apprenticeships and traineeships, and is included in the length of the Training Agreement.  It is a trial period for both your employer and yourself and as an apprentice or trainee.  For apprenticeships, the probationary period is usually 90 days.

2.  What if I am not available to attend a testing session or interview?

QR will endeavour to accommodate you with another time.  If this is not possible, you may need to make yourself available at the time specified.  You will need to discuss this with a recruitment consultant.

3.  What if my application is unsuccessful?

You may ask for feedback on your application.  You are also welcome to apply in subsequent years.

4.  What traineeships does QR offer for women?

QR encourages women to apply for all traineeships on offer.  There are no gender restrictions in any traineeship QR offers.

5.  Does QR pay relocation costs of new trainees?

QR encourages applicants for positions throughout Queensland, regardless of where you are currently living, although it is up to the individuals to cover their own costs of relocating to another centre.

6.  Are trainees offered a position with QR upon completion of their traineeships?

Trainees can be offered employment upon the completion of their traineeship; however, this is dependent upon a number of factors including specific business requirements at the time the decision is made.  However, QR does not guarantee permanent employment at the conclusion of contract for traineeships.
