1. Is there a probation period during the apprenticeships? Yes. A probation period is part of all apprenticeships and traineeships, and is included in the length of the Training Agreement. It is a trial period for both your employer and yourself and as an apprentice or trainee. For apprenticeships, the probationary period is usually 90 days. 2. How many apprenticeships does QR offer in 2009? QR is offering 114 apprenticeships across the state in a variety of trades. 3. What if I am not available to attend a testing session or interview? QR will endeavour to accommodate you with another time. If this is not possible, you may need to make yourself available at the time specified. You will need to discuss this with a recruitment consultant. 4. What if my application is unsuccessful? You may ask for feedback on your application. You are also welcome to apply in subsequent years. 5. What apprenticeships does QR offer for women? QR encourages women to apply for all apprenticeships on offer. There are no gender restrictions in any apprenticeship QR offers. 6. Does QR pay relocation costs of new apprentices? QR encourages applicants for positions throughout Queensland regardless of where you are currently living although it is up to the individuals to cover their own costs of relocating to another centre. 7. Are apprentices offered a position with QR upon completion of their apprenticeship? It is common practice that apprentices within QR are generally offered employment upon the completion of their apprenticeship; however, this is dependent upon a number of factors, including, specific business requirements at the time the decision is made. QR can not guarantee that all apprentices will be offered employment on completion of their apprenticeship.
